Blog Challenge Day 23: Twenty Facts About You

Twenty Facts About You

Oh, this one will be fun! The challenge for me is going to be mixing it up so that people who do know me find out something new. Or maybe new. ;-)

Here goes….

  1. I am the second out of five girls. Yup, I have four (wonderful!) sisters.
  2. My parents are still married and just recently celebrated their 46th anniversary.
  3. Hubs is in the United States Air Force and has been for seventeen years.
  4. I have lived in five major cities — Richmond, VA; Washington, DC; Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; and St. Louis, MO. (I don’t count Tidewater, where we live now as being a major city, as it’s really a bunch of smaller towns strung together with no distinct center or downtown.)
  5. I’m still very close to my college roomie from freshman year. She was my matron of honor in our wedding and is my daughter’s godmother.
  6. Speaking of my daughter, she is sixteen years old — old enough to go to prom, and has already been invited. Hold me now….
  7. I have been in a wheelchair for two years and four months.
  8. I have had a total of eleven surgeries and am scheduled for another one next month.
  9. I fainted during my last mammogram. Oh yes, I sure did. And they couldn’t even get me to come two with two ammonia capsules. Hubs, on the other hand, said the ammonia capsules about did him in.
  10. I attended Christian school and graduated in a class of fifteen. And yes, my parents put all five of us through Christian school. Kudos to them!
  11. September 11 had a profound effect on me and always will. I still think about that day often. Too often, I suspect. I’m sure a psychologist would have a field day with that one.
  12. Speaking of psychologists, I have PTSD. I don’t talk about it much, because I’m embarrassed to have it, which is kinda stupid, if you think about it. The embarrassment part, not that I have it.
  13. My favorite color is pink. (I suspect y’all already know this but it’s hard to write these things!)
  14. I have a TempurPedic bed. If you don’t have one, you need to get one pronto.
  15. If I could live in the 1950s instead of the 2010s, I would. In a heartbeat. I’d still need all the same people in my life, of course. And yes, I realize I would not be able to write this blog.
  16. I love to read. Love, love, love. My NOOK currently has over 1,500 books on it.
  17. My technologically-challenged self recently installed Cyanogenmod 7 (Gingerbread) on my NOOK Color to create a dual-boot system. Now it functions both as a conventional NOOK and a tablet. Yes, I’m quite proud of that accomplishment, thank you very much!
  18. I drive ride in a minivan. (Not too much driving for me here lately.) It’s actually not all that bad. I scoffed at minivan drivers my entire adult life and still wouldn’t have one if I didn’t need my power wheelchair lift. Having said that, it’s actually a pretty sweet ride. And seventeen — yes, seventeen — cup holders? It just doesn’t get much better than that, y’all. Oh yeah, and her name is Silver.
  19. Yes, my hair is naturally curly and no, I don’t wear colored contacts.
  20. I have a pink laptop, appropriately named Pink. I’m pretty original with names, aren’t I?

Now my challenge to you: share twenty facts on your blog and link up in the comments. I can’t wait to read what y’all come up with!

  1. Haha I get asked if I wear colored contacts too. And mini-vans are rocking. My folks have one with a seat that comes out automatically and back in. Pretty cool and so helpful for getting my mom in and out safely. :)

    Love your list!

  2. Good list! I get asked all the time if I wear contacts too. I tell them NO my eyes are just super blue and half the time they don’t believe me. Pink laptop – cool…I want a purple one and am checking into them. Hoping to get a new one this year!
